I used to mark my disks with glue on labels. Well after making hundreds of labels they all went bad because of the glue, the ink, or the blank media. It took about a year and a half for the disks to go bad. I really did not know what caused it, but they were slowly ruined as if on a time table. They all sounded as if they were off balance when spinning in the drive and the sound would come out all garbled. Thankfully they were all music and not data. Anyways it was a big disappointment for me losing all that music.

So I started over using a "Sharpie" to mark my disks. A Sharpie is a permanent ink marking pen. The disks were pretty boring looking but at least I felt as though I was safe and the disks would last.

Well I bought a HP computer that had the Lightscribe feature. It was an inexpensive add on. I was blown away by the quality of the finished product. I use the Lightscribe software (it cost me $12 but I think I got it at a discount because I bought the computer) that is very easy to use and very versatile. I have made probably 50 disks so far and no two look the same. I can insert my own images or pictures, background or fonts or use the templates that came with the LightScribe Software. The results look fantastic. It takes about 30 minutes to Scribe a disk but all the information is on the disk. A picture of the CD cover or a picture of the artist, all the songs and a beautiful background of my choosing. They can make very professional looking presentations if you are in business, they are not just for music. You can run other applications while you are burning so I really don't mind the time it takes to burn them. I am sure this is a medium that will only get better and better in the next ten years. Color Lightscribe disks are a way off in the future though.

This is a great product! I don't know if it was my drive or the CD, but once it had lines going through the design though. I think that was my drive though. I would definitely buy these again, and probably will considering how much I love them!

All you have to do is burn a CD like normal then flip it over to burn the design. It's pretty awesome if you have the time.

There is nothing in particular that I can find wrong with this media. In fact, standalone, the media if great. My problem is being misled by my Amazon.com search. I input a search for labelflash and this media came up; leading me to believe that it worked with a labelflash drive. No. It ONLY works on lightscribe drives. I am only writing this review so that 1) Amazon can change their tagging so others won't be misled and 2) If Amazon does not change their tagging, others will not fall into the same trap that I did.

I bought two of the 30 packs of Verbatim Lightscribe CDRs from Best Buy. I would be very optimistic in saying that 1 out of 3 actually worked. Oh, the music burns on to them no problem, but when I flip them over to do the lightscribe label, it tells me the media is not recognized as lightscribe. This happens no matter what program I use! And what sucks even worse is that with the coating on the cd, it's almost impossible to write on, so you end up with an un-labeled cd anyways.

Oh well, back to the HP discs :)

First, I have good equipment, know how to use it, and have successfully burned several hundred audio and data discs with about a 1% failure rate. This was my first experience with Verbatim. I found about a 75% failure rate at all burner speeds. The discs in this pack all seemed to be off balance and vibrated excessively. Most locked up my machine so bad that I had to power down to get the disc out, losing the burn list as well. I wasted hours with this junk. On switching to any other brand everything worked fine again.

I bought a spindle of 30 discs when I bought my HP DVD LightScribe Burners. While I can use the LightScribe feature with other brands it simply won't work with Verbatim's LightScribe discs.

This applies only to the LightScribe feature, they burn fine, but I could have bought discs a lot cheaper if I had not wanted to use my drive's LightScribe feature. I should also note that I am not the only one having this problem since there are serveral sites on the web where people are complaining of problems with hp LightScribe drives and this brand.

Great CDs - No wasted disks as of yet. Don't know if it is just me, but the lightscribe images on Verbatim CD/DVDs are often better than on HP-brand CD/DVDs. They are great priced CDs that do exactly what they are supposed to do. Period.

These discs are just super to work with. The software I have has some interesting options to make very snappy looking labelling for presentations or for sales. I bought an HP with Lightscribe built in to the DVD/CD burner and have been burning ever since. Your information is inscribed into the CD meaning you can find another use for those black laundry markers and for those paper labels which tend to get expensive and are just one thing to figure out. What could be more easy than flipping a CD over and reinserting it to burn in the labelling?
The larger the format and the more intricate the design, the longer it takes to create but it goes very fast in a smaller scale. Just to experiment, I did a very large involved design which took 20 minutes. Others have taken much much less.
The price isn't objectionable as these are high-quality discs which I find essential when I'm copying photographs then deleting them from the memory card. I don't trust many of the cheaper brands to preserve what's so important to me.

First, please note that as of 1/14/2010 I found this at my local Fry's for $14.99. Not sure why Amazon feels that we should pay ~2x what a brick and mortar store sells it for...

As for the product, it's a good quality product better than most that I looked at. Materials and stitching are solid and the sleeves are good for a nice friction fit.

I've migrated to a music server and loaded CDs onto a hard drive, so I'm storing CDs and ditching the plastic cases. With these binders I can put a CD and the commercial booklets/liner notes into the same pocket, which I like because it keeps me from buying 2x as many binders. It's certainly worth the $14.99 that I paid. I don't know if I'd find the same value if I had paid Amazon's price.

I have purchased 6 x 50 of these in the past. Of the 300 there were 13 fails. Mediocre but not disastrous. I recently purchased 2 x 50 more. All 21 tested have failed. They have been tested on 2 dvd burner systems and 4 computers. They will not load. Morale of the story , you get ( eventually ) what you pay for.
